Dr. Chagla’s Professional Background

Dr. Chagla is a highly accomplished medical professional with an impressive background. He completed his Bachelor of Science and an M.D. from Queen’s University. He went on to complete an internal medicine residency at Western University, and an infectious diseases fellowship at McMaster University. Dr. Chagla also has a Master of Science in infectious diseases and a diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Currently Dr. Chagla is an Associate Professor of Medicine at McMaster University and co-medical director of infection control at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

Dr. Chagla’s Work, Awards, and Accomplishments

As an infectious disease expert, Dr. Chagla has published works on COVID-19 research, epidemiology, testing, and infection control. He’s also contributed to policy planning and clinical trials on COVID-19 therapies. As an associate professor at McMaster University, 44 of Dr. Chagla’s co-authored publications are highlighted on McMaster University’s Co-author Network! 

According to the Ontario Medical Association, Dr. Chagla won a clinician teaching award in internal medicine and a young investigator grant for his work in supporting medical education at the University of Namibia.
